Libraries and the Affordable Care Act

On July 26, WebJunction presented Libraries & Health Insurance: Preparing for October 1, a webinar to help libraries learn about online resources and community contacts available to respond to patron questions about the Marketplace and the Affordable Care Act.

Helping Patrons File for Unemployment

Unemployment in Florida reached an all-time high in March 2010. How does this affect libraries? The need to file unemployment claims online is creating an overwhelming demand for public access computing at Florida public libraries. Join us for a guided tour of the unemployment compensation process led by Audra Wiggins, Michael Mills and Diane McIntyre. Learn what information your patrons need to have available during the online process, general information about questions claimants are asked, how long it might take to fill out an application, and more.

Re-tooling Frontline Staff with E-government Resources

Knowing how to find and use E-government resources is critical for patrons who need access to information related to unemployment, food stamps, Medicaid, tax forms, health and housing; and many people are asking their public library staff to help them navigate this information. To meet these new and increased demands on frontline staff, libraries in Florida are collaborating with government agencies and social service organizations to provide the best service possible to patrons in their state.
