Site Closed

I have enjoyed providing this info for the past four years, but due to work and personal demands the site will no longer be updated.

I won't leave you in the lurch. WebJunction works with Jamie Markus to do a
fabulous monthly listing of library webinars.  You are in good hands.

At its peak this site had over 1,200 unique visitors each month.  It was good to see that folks in our profession are lifelong learners.

Weathering the Storm

I liked the description of this webinar, but the title didn't work for me "Healing the Wounded Organization". So I gave it a new title for the purpose of this post so hopefully if your library is in this situation, this webinar might be of interest.

Wednesday, April 20, 12 noon EDT.

If your organization is like most, you’ve been through a lot the last two years. People have been laid-off, friends have been let go, teams have been reshaped, and everyone has been asked to do more with less. The organization has weathered the storm, but not without its share of cuts and bruises—especially to the human side of the organization. In this webinar, best-selling business author Ken Blanchard shares three key strategies for returning your organization to full health with all cylinders firing. You’ll learn how to:
  • Create a compelling picture of the future
  • Re-establish trust that may have been strained during hard times
  • Get everyone aligned and moving in the same direction

The best companies (and the best leaders) create their own high performance work environments—in good times and bad. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the world’s best loved business authors and leadership experts on how to reenergize and inspire your people to higher levels of performance. Ken will share specific strategies for senior leaders, supervisory managers, and frontline employees so everyone can see how they can play a part in moving the organization forward.

One Year Old

It is hard to believe the Library Webinars blog just turned one.  A "side project" that has taken on a life of its own.

I'm pleased that the site has been helpful, not just to Florida library staff, but the blog is currently read by over 1,000 unique visitors each month from all over the globe.

Thanks all!  You keep reading, I'll keep writing!

Can't Watch a Webinar Live?

Number one comment by far of this blog...I am sometimes/usually/never able to watch the webinars live.

My response. Remember that many webinar providers are generous and will allow access to the recorded event...but you must register.

As an example, see this note from the provider of the School Library Journal webinar below:

"If you are not able to make the live webcast of Nonfiction Book Buzz, register now and you will get an email reminder from School Library Journal when the webcast is archived and available for on-demand viewing at your convenience."

Live vs. Recorded Webinars

A rare post here that is not an actual event, but I thought it was relevant. If you don't wish posts like this in the future you are welcome to comment below.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Tim Bourquin wrote a thought-provoking column talking about his company’s use of both live and recorded webinars. Tim is very open and detailed in his description of how they use webinars to boost awareness and revenue and it’s worth reading as a business use case. But he also brings up two major problems he is running into:

1. People are signing up for live webinars just to get the link to the recording. They never plan to attend the live session.

2. There is no sense of urgency driving people to watch recordings. The indefinite availability lowers the priority of ever watching the content.
