eBooks 101: Digital Content Strategy

Thursday, March 31, 2:00pm EDT.

eBooks 101: The Digital Content Strategy for Reaching Customers Anywhere, Anytime, on Any Device. A Case Study Webcast with ASTD.

When it comes to publishing eBooks, there's no prescribed format for success. Most traditional publishers aren't good role models because they still employ print production processes that were never intended to tackle today’s electronic challenges. If you’re considering a foray into eBook or app production, join digital publishing maven Ann Rockley, the principal author of eBooks 101: The Digital Content Strategy for Reaching Customers Anywhere, Anytime, on Any Device for this free one-hour webinar. She'll be joined by Digital Content Production Specialist, Anthony Allen of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), who will present a real-world case study detailing how ASTD embraced the methodology outlined in Rockley’s new book and now employs a production process that frees their content to be easily transformed and delivered into whatever new formats and devices their members desire.

When Training is not the Answer

Wednesday, March 23, 2:00pm EST.

Is a training program the answer to your workplace problems? Although I make my living as a trainer and educator, there are many situations where I tell potential customers that I don't think a workshop, seminar, or class is appropriate. Let me share 15 reasons not to hire me and what is going to work better to resolve personnel and productivity issues. Although most of the examples come from my work with libraries, universities, schools, local government, and nonprofit organizations, these ideas apply to pretty much any workshop.

Pat Wagner has been a trainer, educator and consultant for public, nonprofit, and private sectors workplaces for almost 40 years. She is known for her practical and good-humored programs.

How to Implement "Library Snaphot Day"

Thursday, March 17, 3:00pm EST.

Library Snapshot Day is an event that provides library staff a simple means to show the value of the library by capturing what happens in a single day in all types of libraries, across a state, community, or even in a single library. Learn how to implement this event, as well as how to maximize photos, statistics and stories to make the case to decision-makers.

Founder of the initiative, Peggy Cadigan, Associate State Librarian for Innovation & Communication, New Jersey State Library and Robert E. Banks, Deputy Director, Topeka & Shawnee County (KS) Library will present the session. The webinar is co-sponsored by the ALA Chapter Relations Office and the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA).
